Janet Sandell, LPC
Why do we repeat old patterns, even when they aren’t helpful? How do we create positive change within ourselves and within our relationships with others to support the lives we want to live? These are the kinds of questions that inspired me to become a counselor. I am deeply touched by the struggles we all go through and honored to be with others on their paths to well-being.
I received my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College, and have bachelor of science degrees in both Chemistry and Computer Science. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon, a National Certified Counselor, and a Certified Gambling Addictions Counselor II (Oregon). I have experience and training using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. I am an EDMRIA certified EMDR therapist, with specialized training in working with trauma. I also have additional training and experience in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT-C). I use an integrated approach to therapy, tailored to meet the unique needs of every client. I enjoy working with clients from many different backgrounds. I have worked in managed care, community mental health, and private practice in individual and group settings.
